The Spike Business Awards are given by the City of Port Moody’s Economic Development and Tourism Committee, and honour outstanding local businesses in five different categories. Your comments matter! Give us lots of information about your favorite businesses – it helps committee members make the best, most informed decisions. Nominations must be received by October 10, 2025.

Winners will be recognized in advance of B.C. Buy Local Week. Nominees must hold a valid 2025 business licence.

About Me

Business Impact

This award celebrates a business that not only has had sustained business success, but also has demonstrated social responsibility through environmental leadership, inclusive labour practices, and charitable giving and community involvement. To be nominated, a business does not need to be engaging in all of these areas of social responsibility but have at least one that it is significantly investing in.

Tell us how your nominee:

• creates an inclusive workplace by hiring people with disabilities, young people, and Indigenous peoples.
• contributes to the community through charitable giving to local causes, volunteerism, and other forms of community contribution.
• excels in environmental efforts such as waste and resource reduction, energy efficiency improvements, greenhouse gas reductions, and fostering green jobs, services and products by demonstrating successful pathways for others to follow.

Puts Port Moody on the Map

This award celebrates a business that puts the city on the map by increasing the profile of the city regionally, provincially, nationally, or internationally and contributes to the cultural, artistic, and social capital of the city.

This award celebrates a business or organization that contributes to the City of the Arts brand, supports cross-cultural and cross-sectoral partnerships, and enhances the creative economy.

• makes significant contributions to the creative economy.
• strives to build partnerships across sectors and disciplines.

New Business

This award celebrates a business that has been operating in Port Moody for more than two years and less than five years that has enjoyed business success, has a clear future vision, and demonstrates excellence in management, service, and integrity.

• showcases their success.
• defines a clear vision for the future, including staff development.
• offers exceptional customer service.

Community Builder

This award celebrates a member of the Port Moody business community or a businessperson residing in the city who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the community through spearheading and supporting initiatives, mentorship, and/or inspirational leadership.

• undertakes significant, impactful work that brings tangible benefits to the community and its citizens.
• mentors and invests in the lives of employees and individuals.
• leverages business contacts to strengthen community connectivity, build networks, and help improve the quality of life in Port Moody.
